Synopsis: An international spy in the service of Russia and a Spanish agent of Moroccan origin, recruited by a Europol boss, meet in the Syrian city of Raqqa, the headquarters of the Islamic State (ISIS). The espionage operation aims to find out where one of the main leaders of the Jihad, known as the Jordanian, is located, and to facilitate his elimination and hasten the fall of the organization. In an atmosphere of distrust, threats and a game of deadly traps, everyone tries not only to destroy the enemy, but also to survive unharmed.

The story takes place around 2017 in the film’s title, Raqqa, a city located in Syria, near the border with Iraq. At that time, according to the opening credits, the Islamic State (also known by the ominous acronym ISIS or DAESH) dominated the city and surrounding areas, although it was already in retreat after being attacked by military enemies from all sides, after having experienced a significant increase in its numbers at the beginning of 2014. In this context, we meet Haibal, known as Saharawi, a double agent of the KGB, who is allegedly working for a Mauritanian, a lieutenant of a Jordanian, the all-powerful emir of ISIS. His contact in the KGB assigns him the task of locating this emir, whose physical elimination, according to them, will hasten the end of the conflict with the jihadists of the Islamic State. Meanwhile, Malika, a spy sent by the CNI (Spanish National Intelligence Center), infiltrates the Jordanian’s inner circle, also to locate him and thus facilitate his elimination. However, their separate missions will be complex and full of danger, and they may even come closer…

Významný medzinárodný rozviedčík v službách Ruska spolu so španielskou agentkou marockého pôvodu, ktorá je naverbovaná šéfkou z Europolu sa stretnú v sýrskom meste Raqqa, v hlavnom sídle veliteľstva Islamského štátu (ISIS).

Špionážne záujmy protichodných sietí Ruska a Západu a ich operácie majú paradoxne totožný cieľ zistiť, kde sa nachádza jeden z hlavných vodcov Džihádu, známy ako Jordánec, a uľahčiť jeho elimináciu a urýchliť pád organizácie, ktorá bude následne náletom vymazaná z povrchu zeme. V atmosfére nedôvery, ohrozenia a hry so smrtiacimi nástrahami sa všetci snažia nielen zničiť nepriateľa, ale aj sami prežiť bez úhony.

Producent a neskôr aj režisér Gerardo Herrero je jedným z dôležitých španielskych filmových tvorcov posledného polstoročia. Začiatkom 80. rokov 20. storočia začínal ako producent a jeho tvorba má kredity vo vyše 100 filmoch a televíznych seriáloch. Odvtedy pracoval aj ako režisér.

Medzi jeho rané diela patrili významné tituly – Malena es un nombre de tango, alebo Las razones de mis amigos. Jeho tvorba je značne eklektická, s určitou preferenciou thrillerov a drám, zvyčajne založených na knižnosti literárnych predlôh, rusofilstve a socialistickej „ľavicovosti“.

Zdá sa, že tu v Rakke mal Herrero záujem prezentovať tento špionážny plán s dvoma krtkami infiltrovanými do džihádistického pekla, do samého srdca fundamentalistickej moci ISIS, s dvoma veľkými spravodajskými mocnosťami sveta (Východ a Západ), ktoré sa proti sebe stavajú, ale nakoniec sú pre výhodnú symbiózu a spoločné záujmy logicky spolčia ….
