SYNOPSIS The story of James Garfield, who rose from peak to 20th president of the United States, and his deranged killer Charles Guiteau. This four-part miniseries is a prime example that we can record and understand a historical story as a dramatic reconstruction, but also as a historical thriller and a deeper study of characters, as a certain parallel with the principles of today’s modern politics. Two fascinating but excellent personalities – the visionary and reformer Garfield and the flighty vandal with the desire to go down in history – Guite, played by exceptional actors. The series has tension, ambitions and the psychological tragedy of the main characters, and especially a probe with a gap of about 200 years into the past of the USA.

Príbeh Jamese Garfielda, ktorý sa dopracoval až na dvadsiateho prezidenta Spojených štátov, a jeho pomäteného a zmanipulovaného vraha Charlese Guiteaua. Táto štvordielna mini-séria je ukážkovým príkladom, že historický príbeh môžeme zaznamenať a pojať ako dramatickú rekonštrukciu, ale aj ako historický thriller a hlbšiu štúdiu charakterov, ako istú paralela s princípmi dnešnej modernej politiky.

Dve fascinujúce ale odlišné osobnosti – vizionára a reformátora Garfielda a uleteného záškodníka s túžbou vojsť do dejín – Guitea v podaní výnimočných hercov, a scenára voľne inšpirovaného skutočnými historickými udalosťami.

Táto dobre hodnotená mini-séria má napätie, ambice i psychologickú tragédiu hlavných postáv, a stala sa pre publikum zaujímavou sondou do spôsobu života za oceánom, s odstupom cca 200 rokov do minulosti vrcholovej politiky USA.
