SYNOPSIS Kenna (Maika Monroe) is an ordinary young girl who is head over heels in love with her boyfriend Scotty (Rudy Pankow). She hopes that he is the one – also because she is expecting a child with him. However, a wonderful romantic evening ends in a tragic car accident that takes Scotty’s life and Kenna’s freedom. A single mistake behind the wheel sends her to seven years behind bars, although the whole action is questionable, the guilt is ambiguous, and the sentence is extremely harsh. In prison, she gives birth but is not even allowed to breastfeed her daughter, and when she gets there, her offspring will be given to new parents. After her release, she has only one hope: to be able to get closer to her daughter, who was taken from her immediately after birth and is being raised by Scotty’s parents. However, they are not at all thrilled that the „ghost of the past“ that deprived them of their only son has reappeared in their lives. They are ready to do anything to prevent the mother and daughter from meeting. In this unequal battle, Kenna gains an unexpected ally – local bartender Ledger (Tyriq Withers), who happens to be Scotty’s best friend. Although he initially sees her only as the one who killed his friend, he gradually realizes that people deserve second chances.

Kenna je obyčajné mladá slečna interpretovaná Majou Monroe a je po uši zamilované do svojho priateľa Scottyho, herecky interpretovaným Rydym Pankowom.

Zamilovaná verí láske a vie že s ním čaká dieťa. Romantika sa však v noci po výlete na jezero zmení tragickou dopravnou nehodou, ktorá vezme Scottymu život a Kenne slobodu a chyba nepozornosti mu spôsobí na sedem rokov za mrežami. Po prepustení má žena bez dieťatka už len jednu nádej: že sa bude môcť zblížiť so svojou dcérou, ktorú jej hneď po narodení vzali a ktorú vychovávajú Scottyho rodičia. Tí však nie sú vôbec nadšení, že sa v ich životoch znova objavil „duch minulosti“, ktorý ich pripravil o jediného syna.

Rodičia Scottyho, ktorí majú jej dcéru zákonne vo výchove sú pripravení urobiť čokoľvek, aby stretnutiu matky s dcérou zabránili. V tomto nerovnom boji získa sympatická Kenna nečakaného spojenca – miestneho barmana Ledgera (Tyriq Withers), ktorý bol zhodou okolností Scottyho najlepším priateľom, a súčasne i jemu sa ako mladá slečna páčila, avšak dal prednosť športovej kariére. Aj on ju začal vnímať len ako tú, ktorá zabila jeho priateľa, postupne si uvedomuje, že ľudia si zaslúžia druhú šancu. Najmä ak urobia všetko pre to, aby ju získali, a ak sú takí očarujúci ako Kenna.

Romantický žáner s kvalitným obsadením je obsahovo skôr psychologickou drámou, čo je na škodu veci z pozície artového skúmania psychológie. Viac ako prvoplánová romanca. Zamyslenie na životnými lekciami a schopnosťou sa adaptovať, i prijať odpustenie za nezvratný osud i možné kruté previnenie. V druhom pláne je vidno tak trochu možno aj dámsky predpojatý ženský rukopis „materských emócií“ režisérky projektu.
