SYNOPSIS A nuclear physicist and tough guy from a good family, but also an extremist anarchist from Siberia and beyond the poverty line. While his parents, prominent scientists, remember the glory of the regime they willingly built, the sworn patriot from Novosibirsk is gradually changing his opinion about Putin’s Russia.

He rejects its capitalist nature and, like a radicalized blogger, proclaims the establishment of a fairer regime. This intergenerational clash is typical for the countries of the former Soviet bloc.

While the older generation remembers the certainties and advantages of the previous regime, the younger generation is hopelessly mired in a crisis of authority, rejecting past and present political representation and resorting to extreme opinions. To the extreme, like everything else in his life, Vitaly also experiences his political awakening as the son of elites relegated to the social periphery after the collapse of the empire.

The time-lapse character study, filmed between 2016 and 2024, depicts how long-term frustration and disillusionment lead to whole generations and social classes leaning towards radical solutions and voting for authoritarian leaders like Putin, Trump or Le Pen.

Ruský sibírsky nostalgik po komunistických časoch, otužilý ex-vedec, teraz fuškár s anarchistickými sklonmi, i zaujímavo ukecaná rázovitá postavička. Autori v 8-ročnom časozbere nekomentujú, len udalosti svojsky pozorujú v pikantériách diania.

Náš hrdina Vitalij je montér a aktívny extrémista – s rozpadom ZSSR prišiel o istotu ale aj o vlastnú dôstojnosť. Viní z toho Západ, ktorý v jeho zemi spôsobil rozvrat tradičných hodnôt.
